When it comes to keeping children safe in or around cars, parents generally ensure that their children are in an appropriate car seat or buckled in with a seat belt. Kids can see serious or even fatal injuries when playing unsafely around or on cars. Car surfing is a dangerous game that involves a person riding on the outside of a moving vehicle – and it’s something that no parent should let their kids try.
According to a story appearing in the Tri-City Herald, A 10-year-old California City boy tumbled off the hood of his mother’s car as he was attempting to surf on the vehicle. The boy fell in front of the car and was then run over and dragged a short distance.
The accident happened at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8th near the intersection of Neuralia and Ironwood Avenue.
The accident left the boy with major injuries which include a broken pelvis, broken shoulders, broken ribs, and internal bleeding. He is currently listed in critical condition. A friend of the family indicated in an earlier statement to the media that the boy would require surgery.
The incident is still under investigation by the California City Police Department. So far no charges have been filed against the boy’s parents regarding the incident.
