A five-vehicle crash in Inglewood has left one person dead and two additional people injured during the evening rush hour on Monday.
According to KTLA, the crash happened at approximately 4:40 P.M. within the 500 block of East Florence Avenue in Inglewood when the driver of a pickup truck was attempting to make a left turn at the intersection. The pickup truck was broadsided by another vehicle.
Traffic camera video taken at the scene shows the truck making the left turn at Cintinella when the second vehicle hit, traveling at a high rate of speed. The impact threw the pickup truck several feet before both vehicles burst into flame. The additional three cars that became a part of a secondary crash.
Firefighters responded to the scene to find several of the vehicles involved in flames. In a statement to reporters, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department, Brian Jordan, said that at least two people had to be extricated from their vehicles.
“Unfortunately, one person died at the scene,” Jordan said.
The Los Angeles Police Department issued a written statement about the fatal crash but declined to release any information about the driver pending notification of family.
The two other injured motorists were taken to an area hospital for treatment. No further information has been released regarding their current condition. Two other people involved in the accident were uninjured.

Eyewitness, Erika Jimenez, who teaches at a nearby Catholic elementary school, said she was scared when she heard a loud crash, saw flames and lots of black smoke. “You know, we have students, it was after school,” Jimenez said, “a lot of them were a little scared because they saw the flames. “
The intersection was closed down for several hours while investigators tried to piece together what happened to cause the accident. The crash is still currently under investigation.
