A multi-vehicle fiery crash in Camarillo has left one person dead and two additional people injured.
KTLA Channel 5 in Los Angeles reported on its website that the accident happened on the morning of Wednesday, August 21st at approximately 7:45 a.m. when a motorcyclist and an 18-wheeler collided on Pleasant Valley Road just north of Las Posas Street.
The third vehicle in the accident, a sedan, was also involved in the crash.
A spokesperson with the Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) Public Information Office released an update on Twitter stating that firefighters were dispatched to the scene to rescue one person who was trapped inside a burning car.
The motorcyclist died at the scene of the accident as a result of the injuries they suffered in the crash. Authorities have not released their identity pending notification of family members.
Officials say that the semi-tractor trailer rig was hauling cardboard which ignited after the crash. VCFD firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and load the cardboard into a dumpster to be transported away from the crash site.
The driver of the sedan was transported to an area hospital for treatment of moderate injuries while the truck driver suffered only minor injuries in the accident.
The cause of the fatal crash is still currently under investigation by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol.
