A two-vehicle crash into a utility pole in Newhall has sent two people to the hospital and left many area residents without power on Thursday night.
According to the story filed by radio station KHTS in Santa Clarita, the accident happened just after 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17th, at the intersection of Newhall Avenue and Carl Court.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervisor Rangel said in a statement that the LACFD received a call by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department of an expanded collision that caused a fire. One vehicle, a white pickup truck, crashed into a utility pole.
The two occupants of the truck were able to get out of their vehicle that sustained significant damage. A small fire also broke out after the crash.
A second vehicle was also reportedly involved in the crash. It was found overturned and some distance away from the pickup truck.
Two people were sent to an area hospital for treatment for injuries suffered in the crash. Their identities and current condition were not released at the time of the report.

Because the collision involved downed power lines and a power outage, crews from Southern California Edison were also called to the scene. Approximately 3,727 Newhall residents were without power following the crash. Power was restored to the area later on Thursday evening.
Officials say that the cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
