A hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning has left a bicyclist in the hospital in grave condition.
According to a report appearing on the KTLA website, police were called to the scene of the crash at the intersection of Main Street and Warner Avenue on Sunday, October 13th, at approximately 5:20 a.m.
A spokesperson for the Santa Ana Police Department told reporters in a statement that the male bicyclist had been heading northbound on Main Street and in the intersection when he was struck by a vehicle that was heading westbound on Warner Avenue. “The vehicle involved in this collision fled from the scene prior to the officers’ arrival. “
So far, no eyewitnesses could offer a description of the suspect vehicle that struck the bicyclist.

Emergency crews were also called to the scene of the hit-and-run crash where the bicyclist was still lying on the pavement. He was rushed to an area hospital for treatment of head trauma, where he is currently listed in extremely grave condition, according to Santa Ana Police.
So far, authorities have not released any further information as to the age or identity of the bicyclist.
The accident is still under investigation, and authorities believe that it’s likely that impairment by drugs or alcohol could have played a role in the crash.
