A head-on collision between a pickup truck and a laundry delivery truck in Fresno County near Fresno has left one motorist seriously injured.
Your Central Valley recently reported on its website that the accident happened last week on the morning of Thursday, September 12th at approximately 6:00 a.m. on Elkhorn Avenue just east of Chateau Fresno Avenue.
Dispatch for the California Highway Patrol (CHP) received a call at 5:56 a.m. informing them of the head-on collision which involved a Cintas delivery box van and a GMC pickup truck. The accident happened a mostly rural area of Fresno County.
Emergency crews from Fresno County and Kings County arrived on the scene to find the driver of the pickup truck pinned inside of his vehicle. After approximately 45 minutes to an hour, the combined rescue crews were able to extricate the driver from his crashed pickup truck.
The driver was then airlifted via helicopter and taken to Community Medical Center in Fresno where he was treated for significant injuries from the crash.
The driver of the delivery truck suffered only minor injuries.
Trooper Acosta with the California Highway Patrol told reporters that the cause of the accident is unknown and is currently under investigation at this time.
