A police pursuit resulted in a deadly automobile crash last Wednesday afternoon. An undisclosed criminal investigation led to a pursuit around 12:05in the afternoon. This chase continued through Fontana, Rialto, and Rancho Cucamonga. The sheriff’s helicopter was even asked to assist in the pursuit. Finally, at about 12:15 in the afternoon, the suspect vehicle left the 210 freeway, using the Beech Avenue exit and sped through an intersection and hit a vehicle that was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
As a result of the collision, one of those in the innocent vehicle died. A second person in that vehicle, as well as the suspect, was also injured and taken to a nearby hospital. It is unknown if they both will survive.
People these days watch high-speed chases on the TV or the internet as if it were a form of entertainment. Police movies and TV shows make such pursuits seem even more exciting than they really are.
But the sad reality is that such pursuits can often be dangerous to everyone involved. Even innocent bystanders can be caught up in the danger. In this case in Fontana, California, someone lost their life because of a police pursuit. Certainly, this is not something we should be entertained by.
