An Oak Park resident has been arrested after allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and striking a pedestrian on Saturday morning.
The Ventura County Star reports that at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 12th, 26-year-old Juan Plasencia Garcia of Oak Park was driving along Westlake Boulevard when he struck a male pedestrian who was walking along the bike path from behind.
The 60-year-old pedestrian from Calabasas that Plasencia Garcia hit was reported to have suffered significant injuries.
Paramedics and emergency personnel transported the pedestrian to Los Robles Health System for treatment of the injuries he suffered in the accident.
According to a statement issued on Monday, September 14th, by Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Captain Don Aguilar, the as-yet-unidentified man is reportedly still in the hospital but is recovering from his injuries.
Plasencia Garcia was uninjured in the crash. He remained at the scene of the accident and was said to have cooperated fully with police investigators.
The Thousand Oaks Police Department later arrested Plasencia Garcia at the scene of the incident on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol.
