A crash on the Oakdale-Waterford Highway on Wednesday, August 28th has left three people dead and two others injured.
The Modesto Bee reports that the crash happened at approximately 9:50 p.m. between Milnes Road and Ellenwood Road. California Highway Patrol Officer Tom Olsen told reporters that the CHP in Modesto received a report of a head-on collision in Stanislaus County.
CHP officers arrived on the scene where a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro had been traveling southbound on the Oakdale-Waterford Highway when for an unknown reason the driver allowed the vehicle to drift into the northbound traffic lanes of the highway. The Camaro struck a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta sedan head-on.
According to Modesto Fire Department Battalion Chief, Darin Jesburg, the violent crash which took the lives of two men and one woman is one of the worst he has seen in a long time.
CHP Officer Ming Hsu also said in a statement that the driver of the Camaro is identified as Jorge Manuel Flores Jimenez Jr., 21, of Oakdale. Flores was traveling alone and traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when he collided with the Volkswagen Jetta,

Luis Alberto Amezcus, 29, of Snelling, was driving his vehicle northbound when Flores crashed into his vehicle. The impact caused the Jetta to roll onto its passenger side along the east shoulder of the highway. Flores’ Camaro remained upright but was blocking both the north and southbound lanes of the highway.
A third vehicle became involved when Luis Miguel Seguraaredondo, 33, of Kerman was driving his Hyundai along the highway. Not seeing the Camaro crashed into the passenger side of the disabled vehicle. Seguraaredondo and his passenger, Javier Napoles, 59, of Fresno were taken to an area hospital for treatment; one of the men in the Hyundai was listed with critical condition while the others had non-life-threatening injuries.
The identities of the three people killed in the crash have been withheld pending notification of family.
The accident is still currently under investigation. It is unknown whether alcohol or drug impairment may have played a role in the fatal crash.
