A street racing incident in Mission Hills on Tuesday night has left one person dead and another injured.
KTLA 5 in Los Angeles reports that the crash occurred at approximately 9:55 p.m. when a 1994 Mazda sedan was traveling at high speed on Woodman Avenue. A spokesperson told KTLA reporters that the driver of the Mazda lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a parked, unoccupied 2007 GMC Yukon SUV.
Eyewitnesses to the incident say that the driver of the Mazda was street racing with another vehicle just before the fatal crash happened. Police said that a witness saw the other vehicle did not stop nor attempt to render aid but continued heading northbound on Woodman Avenue.
The identity of the driver of the Mazda was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. He was described as a man in his 30’s. His identity has not yet been released, pending notification of family members.
A female passenger was also in the Mazda at the time of the accident. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Her age and identity have not been released by the authorities.
The crash is still currently under investigation. The LAPD Valley detectives asking that anyone who may have further information to contact them.
