A fiery crash on the northbound 5 freeway and Interstate 54 near Chula Vista on Sunday, July 7th have left two people injured.
Fox 5 in San Diego reports that the accident happened at approximately12:30 p.m. when a trailer loaded with jet skis became detached from the vehicle that was hauling it. The trailer blocked the center lane of the freeway, causing at least two vehicles to collide in a chain reaction crash.
The California Highway Patrol said in a statement that the trailer with the jet skis crashed into a pickup truck causing the truck to burst into flame. Good Samaritans assisted those who were inside of vehicles involved in the accident and got them to safety.

A spokesperson for the Chula Vista Firefighters Local 2180, Darrell Roberts, told reporters that one of the drivers involved in the crash was an adult male and the other injured driver was an elderly woman. Both were reported to have suffered minor injuries in the crash. Both injured drivers were taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The fiery crash caused delays on the freeway for approximately an hour and a half while emergency crews investigated and cleaned up the debris.
Authorities say the driver of the vehicle hauling the trailer and jet skis pulled over and cooperated fully with police. So far no charges have been filed in connection to the accident.
