Almost every accident happens when you least expect it. A motor vehicle crash, regardless of severity, can be terrifying to those who are involved – even if no one ends up getting hurt.
The Reedley Exponent recently reported on such a crash that happened on Monday, May 13th on the line between Fresno and Tulare Counties. A Toyota minivan went off the road and into water-filled dirt canal located at the intersection of Alta and Floral Avenues.
According to a statement issued by the Dinuba Police Department, the incident happened at approximately 9:45 a.m. when the minivan occupied by an elderly couple and their son slowed their vehicle to make a right turn from Alta onto Floral. The three adults were on their way to attend a graveside service. A woman in a second vehicle attempted to swerve around the minivan in order to pass it. Instead, the Dinuba woman’s vehicle struck the rear bumper of the larger vehicle, propelling it into the dirt canal which was filled with 2 to 3 feet of flowing water.
The woman and her infant daughter in the second vehicle and the three people who were in the minivan were all checked out by emergency responders at the scene of the accident. No one was injured in the crash.
So far, no charges have been filed. The accident is still currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
