A woman has died after a DUI crash on the SR 299 near Whiskeytown on Wednesday, January 29th.
ABC affiliate KRCTV reported on its website that a woman was traveling eastbound toward Redding when her Chevy pickup truck collided head-on with a red Toyota Pickup truck that was traveling westbound.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene of the crash and attempted to save the life of the woman. Authorities say that all life-saving measures performed by paramedics and first responders failed, and she died at the scene before being transported to an area hospital by helicopter.
After initial investigations by the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the westbound Toyota pickup truck allowed their vehicle to wander into the path of the victims oncoming Chevy truck, causing the head-on collision.
Traffic was blocked while the two-vehicle crash was investigated.

The female victim in the crash suffered major injuries. Her age and identity have not been released at this time. The CHP said that the driver of the Toyota pickup truck was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Their identity and current condition have not been released.
Officials say that the accident is still currently under investigation.
