A high-speed chase with Los Angeles Police Department officers ended in a man’s arrest after a crash through the streets of the San Fernando Valley on Tuesday.
KABC Channel 7 in Los Angeles reported on its website that authorities say that the incident happened at approximately 12:30 p.m. when police spotted and began their pursuit of an allegedly stolen silver, four-door SUV
The chase wound through the streets of Burbank until reaching the intersection of Magnolia and Vineland Avenue. Video footage taken from a police helicopter shows the SUV colliding with a dark-colored minivan. The driver continued even after the vehicle suffered considerable front-end damage.
The driver managed to get the stolen vehicle into the parking lot of Ralph’s supermarket in North Hollywood. The suspect is then shown exiting the SUV even while the vehicle was still moving. The suspect then attempted to flee from LAPD officers on foot.
Police Officers arrested the suspect a short time later. He was taken into custody without incident and is being held on charges, which include auto theft and fleeing law enforcement officers.
Authorities have not yet released the male suspect’s identity. Reports indicate that he did not suffer any significant injuries during the crash.
No further information has been released regarding the identity and condition of the driver of the minivan that the suspect vehicle crashed into while fleeing from the police.
