No matter what precautions you take to stay safe or how closely you pay attention to the rules of the road, no one thinks about how they might get into an accident. There’s also no way to know the nature or severity of a crash or if anyone will be seriously injured or worse.
An Orange County man has died after an accident that happened in Huntington Beach on January 31, 2018. The Orange County Register reports that after weeks of being hospitalized, the man passed away on Wednesday, February 13th at 11:48 a.m.
The Huntington Beach Police Department said in a statement that the collision happened at approximately 8:42 a.m. when a 2004 Toyota Tundra pickup truck was traveling northbound on Brookhurst Street. The truck collided with a 2003 Cadillac Escalade at Atlanta Avenue for an unknown reason.
Police investigators say that the driver of the pickup truck, a 68-year-old man, had not been wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision. He was taken to University of California Irvine Medical Center in Orange for treatment where he died weeks later from the injuries he sustained in the crash. So far authorities have not released the victim’s name.
Police interviewed the 55-year-old driver of the Escalade. He was treated at the scene of the crash with only minor injuries and was later released.
