NBC Los Angeles has reported on a hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian in Fullerton. One person has been arrested in connection with the crash.
Around 3:30 AM this morning, officers were summoned to Harbor Boulevard and Orangethorpe Avenue for a collision. A male victim was found seriously injured and sadly died at the scene.
Later, around 4:12 AM, officers found a vehicle with major collision damage near the scene of the accident. The driver was detained and questioned about her role in the case, then arrested for felony hit-and-run and DUI. Police stated that a Drug Recognition Expert conducted the investigation.
Most hit-and-runs are due to fear of getting caught, but a significant number are because of intoxication. People can get blackout drunk, or extremely high on another drug, and lose all sense of what is happening.
The driver, should these facts hold true, may have zero recollection of what happened. Nevertheless, they will be held responsible should the facts of the case pin her as the driver that killed the man at the scene.
We wish to extend our condolences to the family of the slain victim and hope they can find the responsible driver. If they can, they can pursue a claim against their insurer or the driver themselves for compensation.
