The pursuit of a stolen vehicle has ended with two people dead and a third person injured in Garden Grove last night.
KTLA reports that the incident began at approximately 6:00 p.m. in Stanton near the intersection of Katella Avenue and Beach Boulevard. Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies attempted to pull over a car that had been reported stolen earlier.
Carrie Braun, a spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, said that the suspect driver attempted to flee from deputies. Approximately 2 miles from where the high-speed pursuit began, the driver lost control of the stolen vehicle at the intersection of Chapman Avenue and West Magnolia Street. The car crashed first into a fire hydrant and then into a tree. The rollover crash sheared off the top of the vehicle.

Officials say that one of the victims inside the stolen vehicle died at the scene of the crash while a second occupant died shortly after arriving at the hospital. A third person who was inside the car is reported as being treated at the hospital. Their current condition is unknown. Orange County authorities have not released any identities pending notification of family.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no other injuries were reported.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating the pursuit of the stolen vehicle. The Garden Grove Police Department is investigating the crash.
