Beloved comic actor of television and film, Orson Bean, was walking in Venice on Friday night when he was struck and killed by two motorists. Bean was 91-years-old.
The CBS News affiliate in Los Angeles reported that the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office issued a statement saying that Bean’s death was in direct relation to a traffic-related incident.
Captain Brian Wendling of the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement to reporters that a man had been walking in a Venice neighborhood when he was clipped by a vehicle and fell onto the pavement. Despite eyewitnesses at the scenes trying to alert a second driver to the man’s presence in the roadway, Bean was struck and killed by the second impact.
Police say that both drivers remained at the scene of the crash.
Authorities did not immediately release Bean’s identity. Eyewitnesses and area residents confirmed that it had been Bean who was killed in the pedestrian – motor vehicle accident.
