One person is dead, and an additional four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Tulare County.
ABC 30 reports that the accident happened on Tuesday, October 20th, at approximately 6:00 p.m. off of State Highway 216 near Avenue 320.
A spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol said that Anmoldeep Singh was driving northbound on State Highway 216 when he attempted to pass another vehicle near Ivanhoe. While doing so, Singh collided with a vehicle with a 24-year-old female driver and one female passenger inside.
The CHP report that the female passenger, Barbara Tanner, 46, of Farmerville, died at the scene of the crash. The 24-year-old driver was transported to the hospital after suffering major injuries. Her identity has not been released by the authorities.
Singh was also transported to an area hospital along with two 17-year old boys who were in the vehicle with him at the time of the fatal crash. Singh and the two teens reportedly suffered only minor injuries in the accident.
California Highway Patrol told ABC that everyone involved in the accident had been wearing their seatbelts and that investigations determined that impairment by alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the crash.
So far, authorities have not said if there have been charges filed against Singh.
